Letter: Electoral College should be replaced
I think we should all support the National Vote Compact.
The current electoral college system demeans your vote by requiring our state electors to vote for who wins in our state.
The compact requires them to vote for whomever wins the national popular vote. Right now a few key states determine the outcome of the presidential election, not the overall desire of the population that voted in the election.
This makes your vote count for less. Every other election in the country is determined by who gets the majority. The winner of the most important job in the country should be elected the same way.
I urge our state legislators to join the other states that have already joined the compact.
