A home in a new development in Destin recently closed for $3.8 million.

The sale marks the highest off-gulf closing in more than a decade in Destin, according to Jonathan Spears, founder of Spears Group with Scenic Sotheby's International Realty.

Spears was the agent listed on the property and said they confirmed the historic sale with data provided by the Emerald Coast Association of Realtors.

A home in a new development in Destin has recently closed for $3.8 million dollars. The sale marks the highest off-gulf closing in more than a decade in Destin, according to Jonathan Spears, founder of Spears Group with Scenic Sotheby's International Realty.

The home, located at 78 Hutchinson St., is blocks away from the lots newly purchased by the city of Destin for more public beach access and is part of a development called Park Row, containing seven homes designed with a more modern design in mind.

"We wanted to focus on bringing some of that 30A new urbanism style to Destin," Spears said.

He said Park Row got its name because they were able to put the power lines under ground to allow for a better view of the green space at each property.

The homes were designed to be second homes or short-term rentals but Spears said this sale "was the culmination of a pandemic-infused market."

"We see demand levels unlike any other area of history in the Northwest Florida Market."

The buyer, who is from the West Coast, initially did not know Destin existed. More buyers are coming from the Northwest and West Coast to buy primary residences in Northwest Florida, Spears said.

This was the first of the seven Park Row homes to sell and although each has a similar exterior look, Spears said each one has different interior design elements.
