Ascension Sacred Heart expands behavioral health services in Pensacola and Gulf Breeze
PENSACOLA — Ascension Sacred Heart has launched new behavioral and mental health services in Pensacola and Gulf Breeze with the addition of three behavioral health specialists at its primary care and pediatrics offices.
Dorothy Brown, licensed mental health counselor, has joined the primary care practice at the Ascension Sacred Heart Health Center, 2156 W. 9 Mile Road, Pensacola.
Amber Hendrix, licensed clinical social worker, is providing behavioral health care to children and adolescents at the Pediatric Care Center, 15 Daniel St., Gulf Breeze.
Sonja Rodgerson, a licensed mental health counselor and licensed marriage and family therapist, is providing in-person and virtual services to adult and pediatric patients at the Ascension Sacred Heart Health Center at Tiger Point, 4033 Gulf Breeze Parkway.

Since primary care is often the entry point at which mental health and behavioral health issues are first identified, primary care doctors have a unique opportunity to engage patients in behavioral health treatment with fewer barriers to getting appropriate care.
Evidence suggests that if more behavioral health problems could be screened and addressed in the primary care setting, there would be improvements in health outcomes, patient satisfaction and management of many other chronic diseases.
