Milton - Edward Hilson Ward, 91, of Milton Florida, a humble and generous man, passed peacefully away returning to his heavenly home on October 5, 2021.

Hilson, as known to his family, was a Loving Husband, Father, Brother, Grand-Daddy, and Friend. He enjoyed spending time with Family, Gardening, Woodworking, Reading, and working outdoors. He loved teaching Sunday School and imparting his knowledge, wisdom and good humor with all he knew.

He was very active in the communities he served including as one of the founding members of the Pace Volunteer fire department. He volunteered his time in organizations during his life including Civitan, Hospice, Mana Food Bank and Scouting.

He served faithfully as a minister in the Community of Christ serving in many roles and capacities in ministry including as the Pastor of the Troy and Dixonville, Alabama Community of Christ Congregations.

Hilson, is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara Glenda Cassady Ward; Brother, Charles Ward (Lucille); Daughters, Sonja Porras and Sabrina Hayes (Johnny); Son, Shawn Ward (Deana); Grandchildren: Amanda Newsom (John), Sarah Uhrig (Ryan), Samuel Hayes, Tristan Ward, Tyler Ward, Trevor Ward, and Tanner Ward; Great Grandchildren: Mya Tillman, Ainsley Tillman, Ethan Tillman and Many Beloved Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father the Reverend James B. Ward and mother Lurlie Dozier Ward, sisters, Hilda Bell and Mary Elizabeth Ward and four older brothers, Joel, Morris, James, and Lamar Ward.

Hilson was a 1948 senior class valedictorian of Allentown High and attended Massey Draughon Business School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict and graduated from Troy State University, later receiving his PHD in Chemistry from Ole Miss University. After college he taught chemistry at Florida State University and Troy State University for 26 years, inspiring students to better understand God's creation.

Samuel Hayes, Tristan Ward, Tyler Ward, Trevor Ward, Tanner Ward, Daniel Neely, Raymond Bell, Stephen Ward, Jimmy Ward, William Ward, Michael Ward, Doug Ward, and Dean Ward.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 9, 2021 at Trahan Family Funeral Home, Milton Florida, visitation from 2-3 p.m. and funeral services at 3 p.m.
