MILTON — Milton resident Stanley Harper is going to be working with a team of professionals across the U.S. to improve conditions for people living with diabetes.
Harper was contacted recently by an American Diabetes Association representative to become an ADA influencer.
According to data from ADA Senior Advisor Stephanie E. Silverman, influencers are "advocates for the ADA who can testify, submit op-eds, sit on panels, have regular calls with members of Congress, state legislatures, governors’ offices and their advisors – all those who are making the policy decisions that will affect research funding, health insurance coverage, the cost of drugs and devices, and other vital considerations for the ADA."
The goal is to continue tackling diabetes through the association’s three-legged mission – science, advocacy and community. It will use those voices to help drive needed change.
"We can only move the dial if we do a better job lifting up and highlighting the voices, insights and expertise of our most seasoned, most valued partners," Silverman said.
Harper and fellow influencers will work to provide information to the people who make policy decisions that will affect research funding, health insurance coverage, the cost of drugs and devices, and other vital ADA considerations.
The ADA will provide updates affecting the issues via tailored Influencer Briefings to help advance those goals.
