PANAMA CITY — Naval Support Activity Panama City has raised its security measures following the recent shootings on bases at Pearl Harbor and Pensacola.

Traffic was heavily delayed at the gate into the Panama City base Thursday morning because of the new security measures, which were ordered to be increased on Friday.

“We have increased those security measures … we will not discuss any specific security measures,” said Edward Buczek, public affairs officer for NSA Panama City. “We expect delays and employees should adjust their schedules accordingly.”

The increased security measures were ordered following recent deadly shootings at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam and Naval Air Station Pensacola.

“We ask for your patience and understanding at this time,” Buczek said of the increased security.
