The Destin Middle School fifth-graders participate in the Dunes in Schools, sponsored by the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance.

The program educates students about the rare dune lake and barrier island ecosystems in our environment. Lessons include planting sea oats at Henderson Beach State Park.

Because we never stop learning, Walton Middle School has initiated professional learning through teacher peer-to-peer observations.

The teachers can observe other teachers in action to learn alternative methods in education. After the observations, the teachers confer and exchange feedback.

Science Night, specifically for Eglin Elementary School families only, takes place on Oct. 8 from 5 to 6:45.

The Niceville High School robotics team will be there, and families may also shop at the book fair in the media center.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Today marks the beginning of Fire Prevention Week at EES, with third- and fourth-graders visiting the Hazard House. Kindergarteners through second-graders visit the Safety Trailer.
