A head-on collision occurred at mile marker 53 on Interstate 10. The investigation is still ongoing.
CRESTVIEW — One person is dead following a three car crash on Interstate 10 on Wednesday afternoon.
The crash occurred around 2 p.m. in westbound lanes near mile marker 53.
According to Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Robert Cannon, three cars were involved in the crash.
The driver of a truck involved in the accident was airlifted to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, where the driver was pronounced dead.
Both westbound lanes were shut down for about an hour with traffic being diverted onto exit 56 to Highway 90.
As of 4 p.m. one lane is now opened. Cannon asks that drivers use extreme care and caution as they pass by the area.
Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident. More information will be published as it becomes available.
