DESTIN — A couple woke up to the sound of glass breaking early Sunday morning and found a barefoot man standing in their home.
He was tangled in drapes with a window frame wrapped around his waist, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to a call of a burglary in progress about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday at the home on Sibert Avenue.
One of the homeowners confronted the intruder and escorted him out of the house. The homeowner asked the burglar for his name and the man identified himself as “Vinnie Garcia” before leaving, the Sheriff's Office said.
Arriving deputies spotted Garcia walking away quickly near the corner of Sibert Avenue and Pine Street. Garcia was instructed to stop and get on his knees but refused and said he was going home.
After ignoring multiple commands Garcia was tazed and taken into custody, according to the arrest report. He refused to answer any questions about the break-in.
Garcia had minor cuts on his hands and feet from the broken window, the Sheriff's Office said.
Vincent Paulos Garcia was charged with one count of felony burglary to a structure or conveyance with a person inside and resisting an officer without violence.
