NAVARRE BEACH — A woman who fell off an SUV early Sunday died after she was struck by another car on the Navarre Beach Causeway.

According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, 37-year-old Pedro Martinez Jr. was driving his Nissan Armada over the bridge while two passengers, identified as Amber Morin and Jeanette Martinez, rode on the exterior of the vehicle.

Jeanette Martinez fell from the Armada and landed in the northbound lanes of the causeway, where she was struck by a red Chevrolet Camaro, according to the FHP. The Camaro's driver then left the scene.

Martinez was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, where she died.

All three people in the Armada were from Houston and under the influence of alcohol.  Pedro Martinez was charged with DUI causing serious bodily injury or death, the FHP reported.

FHP Troopers searched for the Camaro for several days before they reported Thursday night that it had been located. No other information was immediately available.
