MILTON — The city of Milton is warning people after two "nuisance alligators" were spotted at a popular public park.

According to a press release from the city, two 4-foot gators were spotted at the bayou south of the boat launch at Carpenter's Park recently. The sightings prompted officials to install new caution signage throughout the park.

"Please watch children while in the park and do not feed any wildlife," the city said in its release. "Safety is key to a fun summer."

The city also cited statistics from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, stating there have been 274 unprovoked alligator bites reported in the state of Florida from 1948 to 2017.
