Early in December, Liza Jackson Preparatory School’s academic team placed first in the Destin tournament. Team members included Katrina Leon, Rachel Allen, Olin Wolfgram, Emily Wood, Henry Vu and Cooper Bailey, with coaches Abby Marrs and Jay Lyles.

That same day, the school’s dance team competed at the World Spirit Association competition. The junior varsity placed first in the jazz category, while varsity placed first in the novelty category.

Walton High school recognized students of the month for November: 9th grade, Atterol Walters; 10th grade, Deanne Barton; 11-grade, Destiny Gomillion; and 12th grade, Ellie Johnson and Correne Knoll. Isaac Jackson was November’s employee of the month.


Florosa Elementary School held its annual school science fair, which saw competitors in grades kindergarten through 5th.

The overall winner was 5th grader Kyla Brister. The following grade levels are listed in first, second and third place, followed by honorable mentions.

The Emerald Coast Public Relations Foundation is offering a scholarship opportunity to high school seniors in Okaloosa and surrounding counties.

The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student intending to pursue a college degree in the areas of public relations, communication, marketing or journalism.

Fort Walton Beach High School student Carson Miller earned recognition as the November Advanced Studies Student of the Month.

Madison Imm was selected as the December ACE Award student by the city of Fort Walton Beach, presented to students who show success in and out of school.

The Emerald Coast Exchange Club recognized Abigail Morgan as the December Youth of the Month.
