NAVARRE — The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office is asking parents to remain hyper vigilant following reports of two suspicious men attempting to lure youths into their cars at bus stops.

The first incident took place at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday when a youth was approached at a bus stop on Frontera Street by a heavy-set black man in a car who appeared to be between 30 and 40 years old with gold teeth. He offered the youth candy and said he had a dog in his vehicle. The youth left the area.

The second incident occurred about 7 a.m. Thursday at another bus stop nearby. A youth said a man in a white or silver van offered breakfast and candy to lure the youth into the vehicle. The driver was described as a white man in his 60’s with white hair.

The Sheriff’s Office has not validated the reports, but wants people to be aware of the incidents and asks parents to speak to their children regarding their safety and how to handle such situations if they arise.
