NAVARRE BEACH — The Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center soon will welcome "Cig," artist Shelly Marshall's sea turtle sculpture made from more than 1,050 discarded cigarette butts. Marshall, founder of SHELLart, along with representatives from Sea Grant and Ocean Hour, will present Cig at 2 p.m. Friday at the center at 8740 Gulf Blvd.

Cig will be on public display throughout February. The sculpture calls attention to the damage even small amounts of trash can cause to local marine life and ecosystems.

The Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving sea turtles more tomorrows through education, community outreach and partnered research to protect threatened and endangered sea turtles and the shared marine environment.
