Jay Hospital earned the Florida Hospital Association Award of Significance in Reducing Harm Across the Board.

The FHA recognized the hospital for reducing patient harm and readmissions in September during its Quality and Patient Safety Summit.

This recognition is due to the hospital’s success in meeting the Partnership for Patients goals in at least 80 percent of applicable topic areas. The Partnership for Patients focuses on making hospital care safer, more reliable and less costly by preventing hospital-acquired conditions and complications during transitions from one care setting to another.

“This recognition represents the all-in effort of our team members and physicians to improve patient safety and quality care,” said Mike Hutchins, Jay Hospital administrator. “This requires a high level of engagement and communication among the entire caregiving team. There is still work to be done, and we will continue to be passionate about giving great and safe care to all of our patients.”

Through the Partnership for Patients, 17 state, regional and national hospital system organizations serve as Hospital Engagement Networks. These organizations help identify solutions already working to reduce hospital-acquired conditions, and work to spread them to other hospitals and health care providers.

Hospitals across Florida in the HEN reportedly prevented 5,283 cases of harm, avoiding $28.7 million in health care costs.
