Santa Rosa County under flash flood watch until 6 p.m. today
Santa Rosa County has issued a report saying Deaton Bridge on Deaton Bridge Road is closed due to road flooding in the low lying areas at the entrances of the bridge.
Accoding to the report, Santa Rosa is under a Flash Flood Watch until 6 p.m. According to authorities, flash flood conditions can create serious road hazards in low-lying areas including roads and bridges, even when only a portion of the roadway is flooded.
According to the National Weather Service, more deaths occur from flooding each year than any other thunderstorm or hurricane related hazard. Many of these casualties are a result of careless or unsuspecting motorists who attempt to navigate flooded roads. The National Weather Service now warns anyone who comes to a flooded roadway to “Turn around… don’t drown!”
