Note the following to all Santa Rosa County residents who may need to travel into Escambia County.



Chipley TheFlorida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is providing an update on road and bridge closures and restrictions inNorthwest Florida due to heavy rainfall. All rail, airport, transit and seaport facilities are functioning as normal.



Escambia County



         I-10 at mile marker (MM) 1 is closed due to water on the road.



         I-10 at MM 3 is closed due to water on the road.



         I-10 at MM 5 is closed due to water on the road.



         Westbound I-10 at Nine Mile Road is closed due to water on the road.



         U.S. 29 north of Kingsfield Road is closed due to water on the road.



         U.S. 29 at Tate Road is closed due to water on the road.



         U.S. 90 at Nine Mile Creek is closed due to high water levels.



         State Road 727 (Fairfield Drive) is closed at 58th Avenue due to water on the road.



 



Motorists are reminded to be watchful of other drivers and road conditions and to be on the lookout for flooded roads. If the road ahead is flooded, turn around and find an alternate route. Flooded roads may hide the fact that the roadway is washed out underneath and as little as six inches of rushing water can force your car off the road.
