Miles Baker, 23, according to Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office reports, said he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and since recently returning from deployment in Afghanistan, did not remember what happened regarding an incident with his wife, her child, two witnesses, and a shotgun the night of March 9 in Jay.
According to reports, Brittany Baker and two witnesses said Miles Baker, her soon-to-be ex husband, got in a fight with Tadd Floyd, Brittany’s uncle and threatened to kill him with a knife. Miles Baker said Floyd sucker-punched him and he did not threaten anyone with a knife, reports said. According to witnesses, Miles Baker left after the fight but returned with a shotgun and pointed it at them while they were on the back porch. The reports said Miles Baker would have been standing 20 to 25 feet from the back porch.
In the middle of this adult confrontation was a child. Reports said one of Miles Baker's charges, cruelty towards child, resulted from Baker pointing the shotgun in the child's direction. Reports went on to say a shotgun fired from Baker's distance could have hurt anyone standing on the porch. Reports also said the arresting officer charged Miles Baker twice, once for both witnesses, with aggravated assault with deadly weapon without the intent to kill. The shotgun, reports said, was at Miles Baker's location unloaded.
