A Milton man was arrested Thursday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, according to Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office.  Patrick Wendell Thomas, 45, of Santa Gertrudas Drive was taken into custody after an open 911 call indicated a male subject was saying he would kill a woman.  Reports said when a deputy arrived on the scene, a woman ran out of the house saying, “He’s trying to kill me.”

Reports said the victim explained she and Thomas had an argument over a phone and during the quarrel Thomas picked up a hammer and walked towards her, saying he was going to hit her and she would be buried in the woods. The victim reported to deputies Thomas swung the hammer in her direction, almost hitting her in the head. Deputies report the victim said she was afraid he was going to kill her, although she never received a blow.

Reports said Thomas told deputies the victim came after him with the hammer and she smashed the phone for no reason. He told deputies the victim had been “going crazy” for the past few days.

Deputies report there was a hole on the side of a headboard consistent with the head of a hammer. The victim said Thomas hit the headboard when he swung the hammer. The 911 recording has Patrick saying the victim was “fixing to get hit,” and be buried in the woods.

Reports said Thomas was arrested and held with no bond.
