Chipley – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has issued a $1.2 million emergency contract to Anderson Columbia Co. to repair State Road (S.R.) 87 just south of Laredo Street in Navarre.
The contractor will begin work on Monday, Sept. 30 mobilizing its equipment and FDOT personnel will remain on site until work begin
Recent heavy rains in the area caused damage to the drainage system, resulting in a partial collapse of the shoulder and the southbound lane. Removing the damaged portion of the pipe will require its excavation and call for southbound S.R. 87 to be reduced to one lane. Once the damaged pipe is removed and the new pipe is installed, the pavement and sidewalk will be restored.
All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the speed limit when traveling through the construction area and to use caution when driving in work zones
