Milton Police have cleared the scene of an accident that took the life of one person and injured another.

Roads are open and traffic is flowing normally.

Details are sketchy at this time and will be updated as soon as possible.

At the scene this morning, a semi with a flatbed and a dark blue Ford SUV sat in final resting spots following a collision. The cab of the semi was located inside the building where Golden Treasures gift shop was once located, on the west side of Stewart St., south of King Middle School.  The flatbed of the semi stretched out into the highway, with the SUV smashed against it. A school bus, apparently, narrowly missed being involved in the crash, with the front of the school bus resting against the SUV with no obvious damage.

The entire road was shut down and blocked by emergency responders. Traffic was being detoured into Milton neighborhoods south of the crash. Traffic coming off Magnolia Street cannot turn north, only south.

Milton police have refused to release the names of those involved for now.

We will publish what happened as soon as police officials release the information.

A photo collage of the accident appears on our B1 section of the Aug. 17 edition of the Press Gazette, going out on stands late tonight.
