The Santa Rosa County School system is holding a healthy eating habits competition.

Were thrilled to introduce this great new concept to your schools, Future Chefs

The whole concept of this is to help educate the kids in HEALTHY EATING HABITS.  Too often we hear about obesity in kids and kids not making the right choices in terms of their eating habits.  Thats why we want kids to submit recipes for their favorite after-school snack!

There will be one overall winner and also a winner from each category below.

Final judging will be based on the following:

         Health-conscious foods

         Simple, kid-friendly preparation

         Fun kid-foods

         Judges Choice

         Best Table Presentation

Timeline of what will happen: Kids in grades 3 to 5 that want to participate fill out a recipe card.

Teachers collect the recipe cards and give them to Cafeteria Manager, who returns recipes to Chef Bill McMahon at Food Service Office no later than 3/1/13.

A distinguished Panel of Administrators narrow down recipes to 6 finalists.

Those finalists will be formally invited to a Culinary Competition Cook-Off on 3/28/13, at Bennett Russell Elementary School from 6pm till 8pm.

All Finalists will receive a framed plaque, a recipe book of all finalists recipes, and Chef Coat, Apron and Hat.
