Milton Adult Softball Registration Underway: City of Milton adult softball registration is underway for the fall season. Church co-ed, men’s and co-ed adult softball teams can sign up Monday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m. at the Milton Community Center, 5629 Byrom St. The cost per team is $350. Rodeo Pageant: The 2010 Northwest Florida Championship Rodeo Pageant will be Saturday, Sept. 18 at the Holmes County High School Auditorium in Bonifay. Divisions competing at 1:00pm will be Tiny Miss (ages 4-5), Littlest King (ages 4-6), Littlest Miss (ages 6-7), Little King (ages 7-9) and Little Miss (ages 8-9). Divisions competing at 6:00pm will be Young Miss (ages 10-12), Junior Miss (ages 13-15) and Miss (ages 16-20). Registration and rehearsal dates are Tuesday, September 7th, 5:30-7:30pm and Saturday, September 11th from 10:00am-12:00pm. A publicity photo will be taken for Little Miss and Miss categories on September 11th at 11:00am. Late registration and final rehearsal opportunity will be on Monday September 13th from 5:30-7:30pm. A $10 late fee will be added on this date. Boaters Safety Class in Milton: US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 1-8, “Guardians of the Blackwater”, in partnership with the City of Milton Fire Department, will offer About Boating Safely, their premier boater safety class at the City of Milton Fire Department on Saturday, Sept. 11. This 8-hour class covers basic legal requirements for boaters, boating safety, elements of boat handling, as well as how to handle some common boating emergencies. There is an examination at the end of the class. A passing score will make the boater eligible for a State of Florida Boating ID card, a requirement for boaters less than 21 years of age to operate a boat alone in state waters. The class will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 11 in the Training Room of the City of Milton Fire Department on Stewart Street in Milton. The class costs $35 per person, or $35 per family (up to 4) sharing a book. To register, or with any questions, contact the City of Milton Fire Department at 983-5430.
GARCON POINT BRIDGE RUN “CONNECTING EDUCATION IN SANTA ROSA COUNTY”: Santa Rosa Education Foundation (SREF) is pleased to partner with Mediacom Communications Corporation to announce its 3rd Annual “Connecting Education in Santa Rosa County” run/walk across the Garcon Point Bridge. This special event supports SREF’s programs, including Take Stock in Children Scholarships & Mentoring, Teacher Grants, Little Red Schoolhouse Supply Depots, and recognition awards for Santa Rosa public school teachers and students. The 4.8 mile run/walk will take place on Saturday, October 23rd, with a 7:30 a.m. start. Age division awards will be presented for runners and walkers. Shuttle service from registration and check-in at Lowe’s Gulf Breeze will begin at 6:00 a.m. Participants will run/walk from the north end of the Garcon Point Bridge to the south end. Post race activities will include hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks for participants. Advance registration is encouraged. Entry fees are $20 for children under 18 and $25 for adults. After October 20th, all registration fees are $30. The first 300 participants will receive an event T-shirt. Santa Rosa Kids House Golf Tournament: The Santa Rosa Kids' House is preparing for its third annual “Help the House” Golf Tournament on Sept. 17 with a shotgun start at 1pm at Tiger Point Golf and Country Club. The tournament will include lunch, exclusive (east) 18-hole course, watering holes, silent & live auction, a fish fry dinner and much more. This year the event will also feature a separate Ladies Afternoon event that includes a golf clinic, motivational speaker, wine tasting, appetizers, silent & live auctions, an exclusive (west) 9-hole course, fish fry dinner and much more. Milton Alumni Night 2010: Calling all former Milton High School football, cheerleaders, and band alumni. MHS Alumni night is Sept. 10, when Milton hosts Freeport at home in the Haywood Hannah Stadium. Pre-game starts out in the gym with an alumni pep rally starting at 6:00 p.m. The pep rally will be open to the entire Panther community. At halftime there will be a parade of classes. During the game, the alumni cheerleaders will cheer during the second half with the current varsity cheerleaders.
Milton Junior Golfers: Milton junior golfers ages 12-18 are invited to compete in the AJGT Lakewood Junior Classic in New Orleans on the weekend of Sept. 11 and 12. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard and hosted by the Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour. The tournament extended registration deadline is Sept. 5 at 6:00 P.M. age group. Players must be 4 to register. Under 8 through Under 18 fee is $80.00. Games start Sept 18th and will end around Thanksgiving. Registration is open until August 18th but late registrations are accepted as long as spaces are available. Baseball Boosters seek help: The Pace Baseball Boosters are seeking assistance in offsetting the costs of purchasing the players their 2010 National Championship Rings and also purchasing a flag and banner to honor the members of the 2010 National and Class 5A FHSAA State Champions. Riverwalk Run 5K: The City of Milton will host its second annual 5K run on Oct. 2. The run will begin at 4:30 p.m. The cost to register is $15 until Sept. 15.
