NASCAR: Memphis Motorsports Park closes after no sale

NASCAR has announced a schedule change for the 2010 schedule. Easter weekend becomes a double-header in Nashville. The scheduled Memphis race will be run at Nashville Superspeedway on April 2.
The schedule change was due to Dover Motorsports, Inc.’s announcement that it was ceasing all operations at Memphis Motorsports Park and that it would not be promoting any events in Memphis in 2010.
Previously plans were to race there in 2010, as the Memphis facility had been under an agreement of sale to Gulf Coast Entertainment but Gulf Coast was unable to secure financing.
The truck series race at Nashville will be run on Saturday night.
Another chance is that Gateway International Raceway will have a second NASCAR Nationwide Series Race which is now planned for Oct. 23, 2010.
It is not known at this time how the NHRA Full Throttle Series will be effected by the tracks closure.
