Pace pitcher, Jamie Ujvari prepares to pitch at Maggie Swinford in the fourth inning.

Pace outscores Washington

Pace made it look easy Thursday night when they went head to head against Washington High in Pensacola, with a 19-2 victory at the end of the 5th inning.

In the top of the fourth inning, Pace sat over the Wildcats with only a two-point lead, but Jessica Ujvari quickly responded with a slug down the left corner for a three base run, followed by a steal on home after a hit from Shelby Brooks.

A hit from Kirsten Holley of the Patriots into the far left field brought in Brooks after taking a two base run.

The fourth inning sealed the game for Pace after several walks from Washington’s Maggie Swinford, and 17 more points for the Patriots.

One of the hits from Keeli Stephens brought in two to put the game at 15-0, which was followed by 3 runs from the Patriots.

The last point of the fourth was brought on from a four-ball set from Swinford with the bases loaded, which brought in Michelle Phelps for the 19.   A strike-out from Kimmy Cole ended the Patriot’s hard hit fourth inning.

Washington responded to the score in the bottom of the fourth with a hit from Rachel Johnson, which brought two in and ended for 19-2.  Jamie Ujvari struck out one Wildcat, and with a low hit down the right of the field, tagged first for the third out bringing up the fifth.

Swinford kept the ball rolling in the fifth, striking out two Pace players including Brooks, followed by a catch in midfield for the third out.

The rest of the inning went untouched by the Patriots, and Pace went home strong 19-2.
