Sports Sideline July 23, 2008

Golf Scramble for Vets: Santa Rosa County/Whiting Field Golf Association will be hosting the Veterans Memorial Golf Classic at the NAS Whiting Field Golf Course on July 25.
This four-man scramble will tee off with a noon shotgun start and is an effort to help raise money so WWII Veterans can have the opportunity to fly to Washington, D.C., to see the World War II Memorial.
The next flight is planned for October.
Entry fee for this tournament is $75 per person and corporate packages are available as well as individual tee signs.

East Milton Youth Association: A cheerleading coach is needed for 11-12 year old age group at East Milton Youth Association. The individual must have cheerleading experience. Please call 723-7493 if interested.

EMYA Football registration: Football registration at East Milton Youth Association is still ongoing. You can register at East Milton Park Aug. 4 to Aug. 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. or on Saturday Aug. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon. The registration fee is $95.

Championship Softball Camp, for girls ages 7 to girls entering 12th grade, is 8:30 a.m. to noon July 21-24 at the PJC Softball Complex on the Milton campus. Cost is $80 per camper and includes a camp T-shirt. Campers must bring their own gloves. For more information, contact Coach Brenda Pena at 484-1332, bpena@pjc.edu.

Milton Basketball Camp: Registrations are being accepted for the Milton Panther Basketball Camp. The camp will be July 21 to July 25 from 3 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. for boys and girls ages 6 to 15. The Championship level of the camp is $70 and the All-Star level is $60. All campers will get a T-shirt, instruction, games, and an ice cream party.

PARA football registrations: PARA will hold sign-ups for the upcoming football season on July 26 at the Santa Rosa SportsPlex Boardroom. You can register your child from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Co-ed Softball Tourney: The City of Milton will host a co-ed softball tournament July 26 at the Milton ball park on Byrom St. All teams interested in participating must submit the registration form and $150 fee by July 23. Forms can be found at the community center or will be e-mailed upon request.
The tournament schedule will be announced based on the number of teams registering.

Futbol Club of Santa Rosa Summer Camp: Futbol Club of Santa Rosa Soccer Summer Camp Director of Coaching Louie Sahin will be holding two summer camp sessions.  The dates are: July 28 through 31 session, U8-12 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and U13-U18 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The cost of the sessions is $100.00, registration forms and further information are available at the FCSR office and www.fcsantarosa.com.

Milton Take Down Club: Youth wrestling instruction is being held every Monday and Thursday at Milton High School from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. under the direction of four-time national champion Rob Hazewinkle. Milton seeks players for youth sports: The City of Milton Parks and Recreation invites all children grades K-8 to participate in youth sports this summer.
You can register your child for football Monday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m. at the Milton Community Center.
Football season starts August 1. The fee is $95 if your child needs a jersey or $75 if the player has a jersey that fits and is in good condition.

Bowling Camp: Oops Alley is hosting bowling camps the week of July 28 to Aug. 1, Aug. 4 through Aug. 8, and Aug. 11 to Aug. 15 for children ages seven to 13.
Each weekly session includes instruction by a USBC Certified Coach, video presentations and on-lane training, personally fitted bowling ball, bowling ball bag, daily lunch, and certificate of completion.
Camp begins at 9 a.m. and ends at noon each day. For more information, call 324-7773

Pace Patriot Football Camp: Pace High School will hold its 14th annual football camp July 29 through 31 at Pace High School.
The camp is for boys ages seven to 14 and the fee is $75 each.
Your fee includes instruction, t-shirt, and lunch on the final day of camp.
There will be several former Patriots on hand as special guests to assist with the camp.

East Milton Soccer: Soccer registration at East Milton Youth Association will begin Aug. 12 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Aug. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for kids ages four and a half to 17. Registration fee is $68 and includes uniform.
Volunteers are also needed for coaching, refereeing, concession stand workers, and more. Call 983-9705 for more information.

Open mat wrestling: Any individual who would like to take advantage of an open mat for wrestling can do so at Milton High School every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. You must have an AAU or USA wrestling card.

Academy and select tryouts: F.C. Santa Rosa will be registering players for the U10-U12 Academy and holding tryouts for the U13 and above Select program August42 from 5-7pm. These programs are open to both boys and girls interested in further developing the soccer skills. For further information please visit www.fcsantarosa.com.

Bushwacker 5K: The Capt’n Fun Bushwacker 5K will be held Aug. 2 at 7:30 a.m. to benefit Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
The race will begin at the South Santa Rosa Recreation Center and finish on Pensacola Beach.
Registration is $20 and will be $25 the day of the race. You can register online at www.active.com or until July 28 at Running Wild.

Futbol Club of Santa Rosa Fall Soccer Registration: Registration is currently ongoing for the fall recreational season, online registration is available at the FCSR website www.fcsantarosa.com. Registration fees range from $100 to $125, there is an additional fee for team jersey.  Individuals interested in coaching or assisting can sign up on the volunteer page while registering their child or email vicepresident@fcsantarosa.com.   More information on the recreational and select soccer programs is available on the club website.

Adult softball registration: The City of Milton is seeking church, co-ed and open adult softball teams for the 2008 fall season. Teams can register from noon to 8 p.m. weekdays at the Milton Community Center until Aug. 22.
Registration is $350 and the season beings Sept. 8 with approximately 20 games on the schedule.

Pace Library Sports Raffle: Friends of the Pace Library will be raffling off various sports items to add a children’s activity room to the Pace Library.
Some of the items you could win include a Eli Manning signed Giants football, an Emmitt Smith signed Cowboys helmet, a Travis Fryman signed baseball, Boo Weekley signed hat and picture, Haley Millsaps signed hat and picture, Danny Wuerffel signed mini-helmets, and much more.
Ticket sales are underway for $10 each or six for $50. The raffle ends Nov. 29.
Soccer Director Needed: The East Milton Youth Association is looking for a qualified soccer director.
Qualified people interested should inquire at www.eastmiltonyouthsports.com.

Winter Senior’s Bowling League: Oops Alley is taking sign-ups for a Winter Senior’s League. The league will begin play on Sept. 4 at 9:30 a.m.
The league will last 15 weeks with a league cost of $8 per person per week.
