NAS Whiting Field Fun Run: The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society team will host its annual 5K and 10K Fun Run on April 10. The event is open to the public and will begin at 9 a.m. T-shirts will be provided to the first 200 registrants. Pre-registration is $20 and will be accepted until April 7. The fee will be $25 on race day. Check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. at NAS Whiting Field’s pavilion parking lot near the sports complex. For more information or to register, call 512-6653.
AC Milan coming to Destin: AC Milan, one of most storied and decorated clubs in the world, will be coming to Destin on April 25 to identify new talent. AC Milan is affiliating with Wave Futbol Club for this event. This tryout is for 11- to 13-year-old boys, and registration is open to the first 40 players. The registration fee for this event is $45. Pace Rotary golf tourney: The Pace Rotary Club will hold its 11th annual golf tournament at Stonebrook Country Club on April 15. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost to play is $400 for a team of four or $100 for an individual and includes lunch, fish fry dinner, cart and greens fees, range balls before start, soft drinks/water, two drink tickets, two mulligans and one tee buster. EMYA coaches meeting: An East Milton Youth Association Football Coaches Meeting will be held at 7 p.m. April 20 at the East Milton Community Center. If you are interested in coaching youth football (ages 5-14), call 981-1992 and plan to attend this meeting to finalize plans for our upcoming season.
Pelicans seek host families: The Pensacola Pelicans are seeking host families for the 2010 season. The host family program gives fans a unique opportunity to be a part of the Pelicans organization. Host families are asked to provide a furnished room and bathroom facilities. In appreciation, each family will receive two season tickets and be invited to all Pelicans VIP events. The Pensacola Pelicans opening day is Friday, May 21, when the Pelicans take on the Grand Prairie Air Hogs at Pelican Park. FCSR soccer sign-ups: Registration is under way for the spring recreational soccer season on the Futbol Club of Santa Rosa Web site, www.fcsantarosa.com. The registration period will run through March. The registration fees are: U6, $65; and U8 and above, $75. On-site registration will be available from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. City of Milton golf tournament for Relay: The 9th annual City of Milton Employees’ Golf Tournament will be held March 19 at Tanglewood Golf and Country Club in Milton, with a shotgun start at noon. The cost per player is $70, which includes green fees, cart and barbecue. Team sponsorships are $340. Tee and green advertisements are available for $70 per sign. Arthritis Walk: The Arthritis Foundation’s annual 2010 Arthritis Walk will take place at 9 a.m. April 24 at the West Florida Rehabilitation Institute on North Davis Highway. Bike Fest: The Fifth Annual Blackwater Bicycle Festival will take place May 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Blackwater Heritage State Trail Visitor Center, 5533 Alabama St. in Milton (next to the library). Prizes will be awarded in a bicycle show for a variety of categories; there is a $5 per bike entrance fee. Two bicycle prediction rides will also be hosted, with cash prizes to be awarded. Scholarship golf tournament: Help give deserving students their big break while hitting the links at Tiger Point Golf Club during Pensacola Junior College’s annual golf classic March 19. The $100 entry fee covers a cart, lunch, beverages, awards party and prizes. Registration is at 11 a.m., followed by lunch and range practice. Shotgun start is at 12:30 p.m. All net proceeds go to PJC Universal scholarships, which provide tuition and book help for area residents who cannot afford to fully pay for an education. Library golf tournament: The Santa Rosa County Library Foundation will sponsor its Second Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, April 3, at Stonebrook Golf Club in Pace. Play the four-person scramble to support your public libraries. Tee time is 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the top three teams, and closest to pin on holes 7 and 15. Adult softball sign-up: Registration is under way for City of Milton adult spring softball. Teams can register Monday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m. at the Milton Community Center, 5629 Byrom St. The season begins April 12, and the cost per team is $350.
