Mondays: The Tim Rebowe Show, presented by Thibodaux Regional, will air at 6 p.m. every Monday during the 2017 football season on ESPN Radio New Orleans 100.3 FM. The show will take place at Rotolo's in Thibodaux. Head coach Tim Rebowe joins “Voice of the Colonels” Bryant Johnson each week, along with special guests. The duo will discuss the previous week's game and look ahead to the following opponent. Fans are encouraged to come watch the show at Rotolo's each week, or tune in to ESPN New Orleans 100.3 FM.
Saturday-Sunday: The 11th Annual Grand Isle Ladies Fishing Rodeo will be held Saturday and Sunday at Bridge Side Marina in Grand Isle. The annual rodeo, which was originally scheduled for last weekend but was postponed because of Hurricane Nate, benefits the local cancer centers, Mary Bird Perkins at Terrebonne General Medical Center, Hope Lodge of New Orleans, Thibodaux Regional Cancer Center and Our Lady of the Sea Wig Room. The rodeo's goal is to promote breast cancer awareness and support. In the adult division, the categories are rat redfish, bull redfish, speckled trout, flounder, mangrove snapper, drum, sheepshead, gafftopsail catfish and cobia. For the girls division (ages 5 to 15), eligible fish are rat redfish, speckled trout, flounder, sheepshead and cobia. Tickets are $20 and includes a rodeo hat and visor. Tickets are available at Bridgeside Marina and Grand Isle Tourist Center, located at the Grand Isle Port Commission office next to the Butterfly Dome. The rodeo will also feature door prizes, raffle, live auction, dinner and dance on Oct. 14. Monday: The Terrebonne Parish Recreation Department will hold registration for its 7-12 boys and girls basketball league starting Monday and ending on Nov. 3. The first two weeks of registration will be held at all area gyms with the final week being held at the TPR Office at 1192 Barrow St. in Houma. The tentative starting date is Dec. 2 for both leagues. Oct. 21-22: The Second Annual Diva Fishing Rodeo will be held Oct. 21-22 at the TradeWinds Marina in Cocodrie. The ladies only fishing tournament is held in memory of Gloria Schouest, who died two years ago from breast cancer. The entry fee is $20, which includes a T-shirt and koozie, and all proceeds from the rodeo will go to local breast cancer patients. Anyone can purchase a rodeo ticket, and they will receive a T-shirt and koozie. All tickets purchased are eligible for door prizes, and you must be present to win. Prizes will be awarded in the Diva Categories to the top three entries for redfish over 27 inches, redfish under 27 inches, redfish stringer (five fish), cobia, drum over 27 inches, drum under 27 inches, trout and miscellaneous (first-place only). Girls 16 and under can compete in the Lil Diva Categories, which will award the top three entries for redfish, trout, drum and miscellaneous. Fishing will begin at daylight Oct. 21 and ends 4 p.m. Oct. 22. The weigh station will be located at TradeWinds Marina. Plate lunches will also be sold for $5 each Saturday and Sunday. Nov. 12: The Bayou Bandits volleyball club will host tryout sessions at H.L. Bourgeois on Nov. 12. The tryouts will consist of three sessions based on age groups. The first session will be for 10U and 12U. Orientation and registration will be at 9-9:30 a.m. Nov. 12, and the assessment, placement, practice and tryouts will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The second session will be for age groups 13U and 12U. Registration will be held from 11:30 a.m. to noon, and the practice/tryouts will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. The third session is the 15U through 18U age groups. Registration is from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and practice/tryout will follow from 2:30-4 p.m. A tryout fee of $50 will be charged for all players in order to participate. The club will also have its Volley Tots program for girls ages 5-8. It is the second year of the Volley Tots, who won’t participate in tournament play but will only compete at practices. Volley Tots will practice weekly for a total of 10 sessions on some Wednesdays and mostly Sundays for an hour. Volley Tots registration is $40 and will be collected Nov. 12. The coaching staff will consist of director Chip Didier, Peter Verret of H.L. Bourgeois High, Craig Hamner of Terrebonne High and other high school coaches and staff. Dec. 20-22: The Second Annual Brock Hebert Baseball Camp is set for Dec. 20-22 and will be held at South Terrebonne High School in Bourg. It is for youth players from the first to the eighth grades. The cost is $70 per camper for one day, $120 per camper for two days and $150 per camper for all three days. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, lunch will be provided and check-in is set for 8:30 a.m. daily. Hebert is a former South Terrebonne baseball player who played in the Seattle Mariners organization. Sponsors include Terrebonne General Medical Center Community Sports Institute and the STIX Bat Company. Numerous former and current local standout high school and college baseball players who have attended or attend LSU, Nicholls State University, Delgado Community College, Southeastern Louisiana and McNeese State and LSU-Alexandria will act as instructors at the camp.
