We overheard an interesting discussion recently. It dealt with “right” and “wrong.”
During this discussion, some recent incidents were mentioned and those doing the talking were alluding to how they would handle certain situations.
Their first concern dealt with the woman recently arrested for allegedly using customers’ information to benefit her own financial situation.
They just couldn’t imagine this happening and wondered why someone would steal another person’s identity.
Another member of the group then brought up the Girl Scout leader who was found guilty of federal charges for doing the same thing with the girls in her den.
They all thought these were sad cases and that these women “needed help.”
Each time a matter came up involving theft of money, property, or anything obtained illegally, they had pity for the person accused or convicted of the crime.
Then, one of the individuals turned their attention to those during the woker identification checks across Santa Rosa County.
It was as if someone had found a light switch and all of those involved wanted blood.
This was the same type of theft they had discussed moments earlier, but the empathy was different.
These people had no rights.
They shouldn’t have been here.
It went on and on.
Ironically, the only crime they committed punishable by law, was the crime for which they were arrested: identity theft.
Being here illegally is not a crime punishable by law, but rather a civil crime.
Was a law broken? Yes, but not a criminal law.
The law broken by those deported is no worse in the State of Florida than not paying child support and our Legislature doesn’t feel refusing to support a child is a bad enough offense to do anything.
It just doesn’t make sense.
Isn’t it strange to see how we want to run illegal aliens out of town on a rail, while we say nothing about the parent who doesn’t support his or her own child.
Both of these classes cost taxpayers about the same when you look at medical cost and other factors.
In listening to this recent “discussion,” the only lawbreakers today are drug dealers and illegal aliens.
If this is the case, it is little wonder Lady Justice wears a blindfold.
Instead of keeping her indifferent, it keeps her from crying over all the bias and hate our system embraces.
