Celebrate 25 years at The Zoo-Northwest Florida

Enjoy a “Feast with the Beast”, learn how to photograph animals and become a ZOO volunteer at The ZOO Northwest Florida. The following is a list of events and promotions happening in June:

Summer ZOOCamp

Weekly beginning June8th through August 7th 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The annual summer ZOOCamp kicks off June 8th and runs through August 7th. For kids ages 6-11, the five day program offers daily train rides through The ZOO’s 30-acre wildlife preserve, science experiments and educational seminars throughout the camp. ZOOCamp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Daily snacks, lunches and a camper t-shirt are included in the registration fee, which is $200 for ZOO Friends members and $225 for non-members. 

A Jr. ZOOKeeper program is offered for young adults ages 12-17 interested in working directly with a ZOOKeeper.  Jr. ZOOKeepers enjoy hands on contact with animals including cleaning exhibits, diet preparation and administering medicine as appropriate.  Jr. ZOOKeepers also enjoy participating in educational seminars and presenting animals to ZOO guests.  Jr. ZOOKeeper Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Daily snacks, lunches and a camper t-shirt are included in the registration fee, which is $200 for ZOO Friends members and $225 for non-members.

The ZOO will also offer before and after camp care to allow parents to drop off their campers at 7:30 a.m. and pick them up before 6 p.m.  Please call The ZOO at (850) 932-2229 for additional information.

ZOOtography Class

Monday, June 15th 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Saturday, June 20th 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Spend the morning with a photographer and ZOO Guide learning tips and techniques for capturing amazing photographs. The class is designed to accommodate any level of experience and all camera types.

After the lesson, participants will go on a one hour special-access tour to try out their new skills. Classes include full day ZOO admission, 30-45 minutes of classroom instruction, a 60 minute special-access tour and 30 minute wrap-up to discuss and share. Sponsor Ritz Camera will provide each attendee with $20 in coupons. Cost is $25 for ZOO members, $30 in advance and $35 same day for non-members. Celebrate the ZOO’s 25th anniversary during “Feast With the Beast”

Friday, June 19th 7 p.m.-midnight

The ZOO-Northwest Florida will celebrate 25 years of entertaining and educating Northwest Florida with “Feast with the Beast,” featuring food, live music and animal encounters on  June 19 from 7 p.m. until midnight. Guests will have the opportunity to explore The ZOO’s wild pathways, sample exotic dishes from some of the Emerald Coast’s most celebrated restaurants and caterers and enjoy live entertainment from Marsha, Marsha, Marsha and the Smart Brothers. 

Advance tickets are $80 per individual or $150 per couple, and any remaining tickets the day of the event will be $90 per individual and $165 per couple. ZOO Tots

Every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m.

This weekly program is geared toward children under the age of five and includes a train ride, story time and animal encounters. Punch cards are available for $40 and are good for eight Zoo Tots visits (adult and toddler). A full card is redeemable for a free feedbag. One-time program cost for an adult and toddler is $7.

Volunteer Days

June 6th & June 20th 9 a.m.-noon

Adults, pre-teens and teenagers 11-17 years old are invited to work on supervised projects such as weeding, planting, raking, exhibit preparation and the like.
