The World All-Stars posted the best finish for Gospel Projects since the Gospel Project All-Stars won the inaugural tournament of the game created by Dr. Dayton Hobbs.
G.P. World played a very hard game, but it was the NEP Blue defense that led to their tournament end along with key hitting which turned field four more into a launching pad over the left field fence.
NEP Blue will look to avenge their loss Monday to Cantonment White in the Championship game at 6 p.m.
NEP Blue will have to win the first game to force a second game and their chance at a 14th title at the Tee Ball World Series.
GOSPEL PROJECTS WILL POST BEST FINISH IN 40 YEARS
Gospel Projects World held the defending Tee Ball World Series Champions NEP Gold scoreless in the sixth inning to advance to tonight's championship of the Loser's Bracket to face NEP Blue at 6 p.m. on Field 4.
The World All-Stars who are looking to avenge Saturday's 28-27 loss to NEP Blue, took advantage of every opportunity presented to them and never got down despite being behind for most of the game which saw them allow a maximum of 10 runs one inning.
GP World got new life when officials saw the NEP pitcher standing outside of the circle when the Gold All-Stars recorded the third out and what would appear to be sealing their victory and a date with their program rivals from Pensacola.
According to the Tee Ball rules a pitcher must be in the circle when the batter hits the ball and on this occasion the pitcher had one foot outside of the circle.
When the at bat was re-done GP World loaded the bases for their power slugger who blasted a grand slam which gave the World All-Stars a 35-31 lead which they would not relinquish.
Following the game, a coach with NEP Gold verbally berated the Tee Ball World Series Officials and accused them of home cooking and the fact they are always getting the short end of the calls on the field after presenting medals to the players, explained it is a call where the opposing coach can either take the play as it happened or replay it and in this instance (the World coaching staff) chose to do the play over which led to the resulting finish.
The NEP Gold coach kept arguing the play and had to be asked to leave the field numerous times while the team and the rest of the coaching staff, including the head coach, were having their own meeting on the field following the game.
Earlier in the day G.P. World defeated Myrtle Grove White 29-8, while NEP Gold edged G.P. American 30-29 prior to the exciting match up to see who would play NEP Blue in the Loser's Bracket Finals.
NEP Blue lost to Cantonment White Monday night 30-29 as Cantonment White will await the winner of tonight's game on Thursday.
In the Consolation Bracket Championship Tri-County American defeated Pace 36-33 in an action packed back and forth game.
