Milton teenager struck by car, sustains minor injuries

A vehicle struck a teenager as she was sitting down on a curb at the intersection of Saints Lane and Falcon Drive Monday morning in Milton.

The 15-year-old was later taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola after the incident with minor injuries.

The accident occurred at around 8:05 a.m. on Monday.  According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, Amanda Dawn Ray was sitting down on the paved edge of the southbound lane on Saints Lane.

During that time, a truck driven by 25-year-old James Russo was eastbound on Falcon Drive approaching the intersection of Falcon Drive and Saints Lane when he failed to see Ray on the side of the road.

As Russo turned right from Falcon Drive onto Saints Lane, he told officers that a sneeze distracted him and that he struck Ray with the right front of his vehicle the FHP report stated.

Russo was charged with careless driving following the incident.
