LeDoux graduates in Texas
Air Force Airman Joshua K. Ledoux graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Christopher Ledoux of Pace Lane, Pace, Fla., and Judyth Ledoux of Bear Paw Lane, Hanover, Md.
Ledoux is a 2004 graduate of Pace High School.
Del Santo returns to Alaska after deployment
Army Sgt. Michael S. Del Santo has returned to Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska after being deployed to Afghanistan for one year. The soldier is one of 3,500 members of the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division stationed at Fort Richardson. Airborne combat team members included soldiers assigned to one of six battalions and regiments of the 25th Infantry Division.
The airborne brigade served in three eastern provinces of Afghanistan, which included the Paktya, Paktika and Khost. Some of the challenges the brigade soldiers faced included poverty, unemployment, security, and management of natural resources and government institutions. Soldiers improved roads, provided vocational training in construction and civics, improved and re-opened 29 schools, remodeled six medical clinics and improved three district courthouses.
While deployed in Afghanistan, he was decorated with the Combat Infantry Badge, and received the Army Commendation Medal.
Del Santo, a fire team leader with three years of military service, is regularly assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment.
He is the son of Steve D. Del Santo of Escola St., Navarre, Fla.
His wife, April, is the daughter of Joyce Cox, also of Navarre.
The sergeant graduated in 2000 from Navarre High School.
McCooey awarded ROTC Scholarship
Ryan J. McCooey has been awarded an Air Force ROTC scholarship to attend a host college or university. High school seniors from across the United States are selected after a competitive application process based on comprehensive tests scores, scholastic achievement, school officials' evaluations, extra-curricular activities, and community involvement.
The majority of scholarships cover full college tuition, provide a textbook allowance and pay most laboratory or incidental fees. The scholarship program also pays a $350 tax-free monthly allowance to each student during the academic year, which increases to $500 by his or her senior year. The value of a scholarship may exceed $100,000, depending on the student's choice of school and the type of scholarship offered.
Upon graduating from college and completing the ROTC program, the cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants in the Air Force. The new lieutenants select and enter various career fields to train as pilots, navigators, engineers, medical, personnel, business management fields, and special operations.
He is the son of Alfred E. and Marie A. McCooey of Green Meadow Lane, Cumberland, R.I.
His brother, Air Force Lt. Sean M. McCooey, resides on Whispering Pines Blvd., Navarre, Fla.
McCooey is a student at Mount St. Charles Academy, Woonsocket, R.I.
Pendergraph graduates AEEE course
Air Force Airman 1st Class Raymond M. Pendergraph has graduated from the Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Systems Apprentice Course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas.
The course is designed to train students in the principles of operating, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, inspecting and testing aircraft power and air distribution and electro-environmental systems, subsystems, components and associated equipment. Systems include direct and alternating current, generators, auxiliary power units, landing gear, steering, electronic engine ignition controls, fuel controls, cargo delivery equipment, warning controls, anti-icing, fire and overheating equipment, oxygen and flight controls, air conditioning and cabin pressurization.
The airman will be assigned to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Tucson, Ariz.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David G. Pendergraph of Wheeler Road, Gulf Breeze, Fla.
The airman is a 2006 graduate of Gulf Breeze High School.
Randall graduates OSUT
Army National Guard Pvt. Joseph C. Randall has graduated from One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo., which included basic military training and advanced individual training (AIT).
During basic military training, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons qualification, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army doctrine, history, principles and traditions.
During AIT, the soldier completed the military police specialist course to acquire skills to provide combat area support, conduct battlefield circulation control, area security, prisoner of war operations, civilian internee operations, and law and order operations. The trainee performed as a team member in support of battlefield operations, installation law and order operations and security of Army resources and installations. Additional training included providing peacetime support to the military community through security of resources, crime prevention programs, and preservation of law and order.
Randall is the son of Charles M. and Marie P. Randall of Prytania Circle, Navarre, Fla.
The private is a 2008 graduate of Navarre High School.
