Meth lab found in Milton
Late Tuesday evening a possible meth lab was discovered on Blackgate Rd. in Milton, which led to the arrest of two Milton residents.
Arrested in connection with this lab were 28-year-old Daniel Ashley Danks and 28-year-old Richard Dickson who were both charged with possession of drugs and possession of narcotic equipment.
Both Danks and Dickson were lodged in the Santa Rosa County Jail and their bond was set at $15,000.
According to the a report supplied to the Santa Rosa Press Gazette, Deputy Todd Reaves made contact with a sergeant with the Santa Rosa County Narcotics unit by phone regarding a possible meth lab.
Dep. Veysey, Oakes, and Reaves went to the location late Tuesday to investigate when a grey Dodge truck pulled into the driveway.
Three subjects were in the truck including Danks.
While talking with the subjects officers could smell something burning and noticed some smoke coming from the back yard.
When asked what was burning in the backyard, Danks reportedly commented "there shouldn't be anything burning and no one should be here."
Reaves entered the backyard and noticed a small fire pit still burning and smoking. The officer also noted a bottle of crystal Draino along with a half burnt box of Sudafed and some lithium batteries in the fire pit.
These items are precursors to methamphetamine and were in plain view.
Following a phone call, Reaves noticed a 2-liter bottle with a tube coming from inside the bottle and it also continued some white powdered substance in the bottom of the bottle.
According to Reaves this was inside a shed that was in plain view from where he was standing near the fire pit.
Reaves was asked to wait with Danks until other officers with the narcotics unit arrived.
While waiting for narcotics officers a vehicle driven by Dickson arrived.
While talking to Dickson, Reaves noticed several bottles of crystal Draino out in plain view, lying in the front passenger floorboard.
Dickson was also detained until the arrival of narcotics officers, when both were taken into custody.
