Health Department selects new director of nursing
The Santa Rosa County Health Department is pleased to announce the selection of Barbara J. McMillion, R.N., B.S.N., M.S., as its new Director of Nursing. Barb has over 24 years of service with the Florida Department of Health. She served as a Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor and Assistant Nursing Director with the Escambia County Health Department before transferring to the Santa Rosa County Health Department, where she has served as the Nursing Program Specialist supervising the Healthy Start Program since 1995. She earned her bachelors degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire and her masters degree in health education from the University of West Florida. She is also a Certified Childbirth Educator and Certified Lactation Counselor.
“Barb has been an integral part of the Nursing Department for many years at the Santa Rosa County Health Department. Her experience and knowledge of public health and our community will be essential as we move forward in our endeavor to improve the health and wellness of our county,” said Sandra L. Park, A.R.N.P., Santa Rosa County Health Department Administrator.
As Director of Nursing she will supervise the management of nursing and clerical staff working in the health department’s Clinical and Community Health programs including; Immunizations, Family Planning, STD, Primary Care, TB Control, Healthy Start, School Health, Communicable Disease, and We Care.
