Milton man found with 1,000 Ecstasy Pills
MILTON – Monday afternoon the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a Milton man with an estimated $25,000 of Ecstasy.
Antonio Dewayne Davis, 26 of 6680 DaLisa Road, was arrested Friday night after he was observed delivering a large quantity of Ecstasy pills to an individual at a location off of Avalon Boulevard.
Davis is charged with two counts of trafficking in Ecstasy, a first degree felony, possession of steroids, a third degree felony, and possession of narcotic equipment, a first degree misdemeanor.
According to Santa Rosa Sheriff Wendell Hall, Davis was taken into custody after he delivered 149 Ecstasy pills and he admitted he had driven off Avalon Boulevard to deliver the drug in question to an individual.
“Narcotics detectives then conducted a search warrant on Davis’ residence on DaLisa Road in Milton and located 885 additional Ecstasy pills, four glass vials of steroids, various items of drug paraphernalia – including digital scales, drug packaging materials, and a baggie containing marijuana seeds,” said Hall. “Detectives also located numerous firearms to include one assault rifle and handguns.”
Some of the other items discovered were three tactical bulletproof vests at the residence that were equipped with tactical ceramic plates that are capable of stopping rounds fired from a rifle.
“We don’t know where he got them,” said Hall of the vests. “These are not the type we use.”
Officers also seized tow vehicles at the scene and $3,000 in cash.
Davis is currently being held in the Santa Rosa County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
For Hall this is the biggest bust involving Ecstasy since he became Sheriff and since a bust that occurred back in 1996 in Jay.
“With this bust we are talking about an awful lot of pills,” said Hall. “I would hate for these pills to fall into the hands of our areas youth and they make a wrong decision they would later regret.
“We get pills time to time, but this is a very significant bust just because of the sheer amount of pills.”
Sheriff Hall noted this was a yearlong investigation by his Narcotics Task Force due to the work necessary just to penetrate his network.
Ecstasy is also referred to as MDMA or Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, which is a psychedelic drug more commonly referred to Ecstasy because of its supposed effects on its user where they supposedly are “outside-of-oneself” and experience heightened sensations which can result in some very harmful effects.
The drug is one of the most dangerous drugs threatening our young people today and is a synthetic chemical and is also one of the easiest illegal drugs to obtain.
Ecstasy’s effects are similar to those of amphetamines and hallucinogens. And the drug has become very popular at social events life raves, parties, and concerts frequented by both adults and youth.
According to medical reports other effect can include involuntary teeth clenching, a loss of inhibitions, transfixion on sights and sounds, nausea, blurred vision, chills and/or sweating. This drug can increase the heart rate and blood pressures, as well as seizures, are also possible.
At the time of Davis’ arrest he was not armed and Hall feels the weapons found were either for his own protection or the fact he might have been infatuated with the equipment and enjoyed showing it off to his friends.
Hall did note it was somewhat startling to find four vials of steroids in Davis’ home when detectives and the Santa Rosa SWAT unit conducted the search.
“The amount of steroids we found was somewhat uncommon for this area,” said Hall.
