Arcadia Mill Open House

West Florida Historic Preservation, Inc. is happy to announce that the Arcadia Mill Archaeological Site, located in Milton Florida, will be hosting its 3rd annual Open House Saturday March 13, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend this free event showcasing the history and archaeology of Arcadia Mill’s significant past, as well as the culture of Northwest Florida. The Arcadia Mill staff, throughout the day, will provide guided tours of the site and educational activities for both adults and children. In addition, visitors will be able to see a number of local heritage crafters, artists, living historians, and re-enactors demonstrating their crafts and skills. The event is free and will be open to the public. West Florida Historic Preservation Inc. and the University of West Florida’s celebration of Florida Archaeology Month is a part of this event. City of Milton meetings

• City of Milton Administration Committee will meet Thursday, March 18, at 8 a.m. in Conference Room B of City Hall, 6738 Dixon Street.

• City of Milton’s Ordinance Review Committee will meet on Thursday, March 18 at 10 a.m. in Conference Room B at Milton City Hall.

Green-Up presents Finally Spring

After the record breaking cold of this past winter, Green-Up Santa Rosa is celebrating spring time with it’s re-opening on Friday, March 19. The non-profit nursery, which uses proceeds from sale to plant in the community, will have plants for everyone’s needs and taste. Spring blooming plants such as bridal wreath, tulip trees and lorapetulum will be putting on a show. Trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals are available, as well as the popular large ferns Green-Up has become well known for. There will be many specials throughout the nursery tot celebrate spring. It is located at 6758 Park Avenue in Milton. Turn north on Stewart Street from Hwy. 90, go two traffic lights and turn right, the nursery is halfway down the block on the left side. Stroke & Osteoporosis Screening Coming to Milton March 18th

Residents living in and around the Milton community can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke or bone fracture. The Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church will host Life Line Screening on March 18. The site is located at 4701 School Lane in Milton. Appointments will begin at 9 a.m. Screenings identify potential cardiovascular conditions such as blocked arteries, and irregular heart rhythm, abdominal aortic  aneurysms, and hardening of the arteries in the legs, which is a strong predictor of heart disease. A bone density screening to assess osteoporosis risk is also offered and is appropriate for both men and women. Packages start at $139. All five screenings take 60 to 90 minutes to complete.
