Local groups host political forums
Two local groups get involved in the upcoming election process.
The Bagdad Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their 2008 election year political rally today. The rally will be at the Bagdad Volunteer Fire Department, which is located across from the southeast corner of the Bagdad elementary School, 2 miles north of exit 26 on I-10.
Debbie Busby, who is planning the event, says the public is welcome to attend the rally. She says 50 political candidates will be present at the rally, including Florida House Representative Greg Evers.
“This gives the public the opportunity to hear and meet the Candidates running for office. So we invite you to come out and enjoy the friends, food and fun. Hope to see you there,” she says.
King Middle School Student Government Association is also getting involved.
Dee Copeland, sponsor of the King Middle SGA says all political candidates who are running for public office are invited to a ‘Breakfast for the Candidates’ on August 22 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the school cafeteria.
King Middle School is located at 5928 Stewart Street in Milton.
“The SGA realizes the importance of our students and staff having a chance to meet and speak with the candidates running for public office. It is never too soon to encourage our students to take an interest in the political election process in our county, state, and country,” says Copeland.
