Juvenile swings ax at grandfather
A 14-year-old Milton boy was arrested after swinging an ax at his grandfather following an argument over a four-wheeler.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Woodland Lane in Milton at 4:43 p.m. Tuesday and made contact with Grady Moss. Moss told deputies that he got into an argument over repairs on a four-wheeler that he bought his grandson Cody Moss.
According to the report, Cody got angry as he was attempting to fix the all terrain vehicle and started throwing things over the fence in his yard.
After his aggression, Cody came inside where his grandfather told him he would take the four-wheeler to a shop the next day to get the problem fixed.
According to the report, Cody explained to his grandfather that that wasn’t good enough and yelled obscene remarks at him.
Grady then got out of his chair and walked towards Cody where he told police he was going to discipline the child, and Cody ran out of the residence.
Grady followed Cody outside, where he met the 14-year-old with an ax. Cody then swung the ax at Grady and advanced towards him with the ax in his hand. The report stated Cody came within five feet of his grandfather before an unidentified person attempted to get in between the two.
According to the report, Cody then swung the axe at the unidentified person and threw the axe at a tree in the front yard.
The unidentified individual told deputies that Cody was approximately six feet away from him when he swung the ax.
Deputies made contact with Cody who admitted being angry with his grandfather because he would not fix the four-wheeler, and admitted to swinging the axe at his grandfather, but not at the unidentified person.
Cody was placed under arrest and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, a third degree felony.
Cody was transported to the Santa Rosa County Jail’s Rapid Intake and was later released to his parents on home detention.
