Field of 22 set for Sunday's action at Avalon

A field of 67 bowlers is now reduced to 22 heading into Sunday's action in the Fran Bolhman Memorial Open at Avalon Bowling Center.

In the field of 22 are local bowlers Dwayne Dwyer of Milton and Zach Dwyer of Pace.

Zach finished seeded 18th after the first day that involved eight games of bowling with an average of 206.25, while Dwayne averaged 205.50.

The first day of qualifying was dominated by Arizona's Brandon Baker who averaged 237.62 for eight games to earn the top spot, while Richard Langton, a familiar competitor to Milton finished the first day number two averaging 233.62 a game.

Also advancing is defending champion Sam Zurich, who averaged 216.62 over the eight games after a rough start.

Zurich has not bowled competitively since June of last year at the PBA Senior Open made a point to return to Milton in defense of his title.

Other area bowlers to qualify for Sunday play is Marty Womble of Pensacola (209.25) and Don DuPree II of Ft. Walton Beach (209.12).

Local bowlers who did not advance to Sunday play where the field of 22 will be whittled down to 16 for match play were Milton's Richard Blackmon (199.62), Gulf Breeze's Rickey Smith (199.50), Travis Pittman of Pensacola (194), Charles Clifford of Ft. Walton Beach (190.50), John Perry of Pace (185.37), Anthony Myers of Pensacola (185.12), Milton's Jerry Bohlman (184.62), Raymond Holley of Pace (183.25), Mike McHaley of Pensacola (183), Gulf Breeze's Bill Ziegler (178.75), Phillip Warr of Milton (175.50), and Dennis Thomas of Ft. Walton Beach (171.25)

The round of 16 match play will begin at 11 a.m.
