USO seeking donations of food
The USO Pensacola Airport Welcome Center will be open for the thousands of military personnel heading home for the holidays. The USO is seeking help providing refreshments such as bread, peanut butter, jelly, chips, ramen noodles, cookies, doughnuts, bottled water, canned soda and other goodies to make the wait bearable. Anyone wishing to help may drop off donations on December 19 at the USO Welcome Center at Pensacola Regional Airport.
ACT/SAT Workshop
A workshop to assist students in the Santa Rosa and Escambia County High Schools who will be taking the January 23rd SAT test and the February. 6th ACT test will be held in Gulf Breeze. Alice Hart will conduct the classes. The workshop will consist of 6 sessions covering both the ACT and the SAT.
Workshop times will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on all dates listed below:
Tuesday, January 19, Wednesday, January 20, Thursday, January 21, Monday, January 26, Tuesday, January 26, Wednesday, and January 27.

SRC Chamber of Commerce 73rd leadership banquet coming - get your tickets
Santa Rosa County Chamber of Commerce will celebrate its 73rd Anniversary 2009 Leadership Awards & Installation Banquet on January 30th, 2010 at Sikes Hall, NAS Whiting Field. Black Tie is optional. Social hour is 6:30 to 7 p.m.; dinner and awards will begin at 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
You are cordially invited to join area business leaders and volunteers as an evening is set aside to recognize those individuals that have demonstrated special efforts and personal contributions for the betterment of our community. Police Department Update
Over the past week, Milton Police Department has worked several vehicle burglaries in neighborhoods inside the city. The suspects targeted vehicles that were unlocked and removed valuables from inside. Officers have increased patrols in neighborhoods, however Milton Police Department is asking residents to lock their vehicles and remove any valuables when the vehicle is unattended in an effort to prevent future incidents.
Fundraiser for Terri Ferro Family
Pamal Broadcasting, Ltd and Pace Community Church are partnering to host a fundraiser for the Terri Ferro family. The Ferro family recently lost their entire home as a result of a fire. Unfortunately, this is not the only loss this family has recently endured. Terri’s husband, Jeff died from a two-year battle with cancer in September.
Fundraiser will be held Sunday (tomorrow), Dec. 20 at Pace Community Church, 4310 North Spencer Field Road, Pace from 12:30 until 3 p.m. Complimentary lunches will be served and entertainment will be provided by Rusty Whitefield. If you are not able to attend, donations can be made through Pace Community Church’s website at www.pacecommunitychurch.com. For more information, call Sherri Owens at 602-4923.
Bay Area Food Bank sponsors Afterschool Snack Program
The Bay Area Food Bank will sponsor the Afterschool Snack Program at Youth Count: Family Violence Protection (The Place) at 5139 Elmira Street, Milton. This program is designed to provide nutritious snacks to children in Afterschool Programs. Snacks are available at no separate charge to the children at the above site.
