Memory Disorder Clinic Offers free memory screens
Forgetful? Repeating questions? Having trouble finding words? If these behaviors describe you or a loved one, West Florida Hospital’s Memory Disorder Clinic may be able to help.
The Memory Disorder Clinic will offer FREE memory screens by appointment only from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3 and Wednesday, February 4, 2009.
The screenings will be offered at the offices of the Memory Disorder Clinic located on the first floor of the West Florida Rehabilitation Institute, 8391 North Davis Highway, Pensacola. Free valet parking is available.
Gradually increasing memory problems may be a result of normal aging, but they can sometimes indicate a more serious condition. In those instances, the MMSE (Mini-Mental State Examination) Memory Screen—a tool utilized by the Memory Disorder Clinic—can help detect them. Though not diagnostic, the MMSE is a brief, standardized measure of mental status and is an indicator of current cognitive mental state.
The free screening takes 30 minutes or less, but appointments are required. To schedule an appointment, call (850) 494-3212.
