Come on out to the Centennial today!
The Rock Holiness Church will be celebrating its centennial year on May 22, 2010. In 1910, the land for the church was donated to three brothers, Lee, Will, and Seabern Golden, who wanted to build a Free Holiness church. The brothers were joined by Henry Presley and Frank Sunday to build the church on Upper Creek Road in Flomaton, Alabama. Many descendants of The Rock founders live throughout the Jay, Milton, and Bagdad areas of Florida and Flomaton and Brewton areas of Alabama. Descendants include William Lee Golden of the The Oak Ridge Boys and Curtis Golden, former State Attorney of the First Judicial Circuit of Florida. A full day of events is planned, including a bluegrass band, speakers, and gospel singing. The Friendship Fire Department will be selling plate lunches and drinks. You are invited to come in period dress and bring a lawn chair for your comfort. Come and enjoy the centennial celebration of The Rock Holiness Church and Cemetery on Upper Creek Road in Flomaton, Alabama.
