Biggs sentenced to 30 years on drug charges
A Milton woman was sentenced on Thursday to 30 years in prison after being guilty on 10 drug related charges Nov. 4 in Santa Rosa County Circuit Court.
Cynthia Lee Biggs was sentenced by Santa Rosa Circuit Judge Thomas Santurri following her conviction on seven counts of trafficking in hydrocodone and three counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.
Biggs, 48, called in fraudulent prescriptions of hydrocodone, carisoprodol and clonazepam to Adams Pharmacy on Highway 90 between Oct. 2005 and July 2006. During that time Biggs was employed as a receptionist at a local physician’s office.
She was arrested back on Nov. 9, 2006 by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.
Her husband, Bobby Darrell Biggs, would pick up the fraudulent prescriptions from the pharmacy.
Back on July 8, 2009, Bobby Biggs was convicted on two count of trafficking in hydrocodone and five counts of obtaining drugs by fraud and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
She faced the possibility of 225 years in prison if she had received the maximum sentence.
Biggs received the minimum mandatory 25-years prison sentence for the trafficking charges along with a $500,000 fine.
The arrest and investigation were conducted by the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office.
