Bagdad Volunteer Fire Department Political Rally
The Bagdad Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their 2010 election year Political Rally on August 21, at 4 p.m. It will be held at the Bagdad Volunteer Fire Department, which is located across from the southeast corner of Bagdad Elementary School, 2 miles north of exit 26 on I-10. This will give the public the opportunity to hear and meet the candidates running for office. So you are invited to come out and enjoy the friends, food and fun. Hope to see you there!
SRC Farm Bureau to hold annual meeting
Santa Rosa County Farm Bureau will hold its annual membership meeting on September 2. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Jay Civic Center, 5259 Booker Street in Jay. All members of Santa Rosa County Farm Bureau and their families are invited to attend. There will be a dinner, followed by the election of Board Members. Ben Parks, Director of Legislative Affairs-Florida Farm Bureau will speak on “Say No to Amendment 4.” Following this, there will be door prizes given out. In order to make arrangements, we ask that members RSVP by calling 675-4572 prior to August 27.
West Florida Memory Disorder Clinic holds Alzheimer’s Caregivers Support Group
The Alzheimer’s Caregivers Support Group meets on the 4th Monday of each month from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Community Rooms of the West Florida Rehabilitation Institute, 8391 N. Davis Highway in Pensacola. Next meeting is Monday, Aug. 23 and the topic will be “Prevention of Skin Breakdown” presented by Carol Bream, RN, West Florida Hospital. Meet and Greet Reception at the Dragonfly Gallery
There will be a Meet and Greet Reception for artist, Jeanne Lynch, on Friday, August 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The public is invited and it is free of charge. Jeanne Lynch will be featured through August 31st. She received her formal art training at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. The gallery is located at 5188 Escambia Street in historic downtown Milton. There will also be a Oil Acrylic Master’s Technique Class on Tuesday, Aug. 24 by appointment only. Artist Melinda Giron will teach some of her most incredible techniques emulating the works of the most famous classical masters in the world of oil painting. Cost is $25 per session. Senior Financial Matters Seminar

—City of Milton’s Finance Committee will meet on Thursday, August 19 at 9 a.m. in Conference Room B of City Hall.

AARP – Taxaide needs volunteers
AARP-Taxaide is a free, volunteer run tax preparation service, to low and middle income taxpayers with special attention to those 60+. This service is administered nationwide by the AARP Foundation and sponsored by the AARP and IRS. You do not have to be a member. We are seeking individuals of all ages, retired professionals, educators, college students and homemakers with basic computer skills and a general knowledge of tax requirements. The Tax-aide program provides free tax training, equipment and certification in January. Student Guide textbooks are distributed in December. Those qualified and certified will be asked to provide at least 4 hours per week between Feb. 1 and April 15, 2011.
