The Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco receives reaccreditation from the Commission for Law Enforcement

Earlier this month Department of Business and Professional Regulation Secretary Charles W. Drago announced that the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco has been awarded reaccredited status by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation.  CFA is charged with reviewing all aspects of law enforcements’ policies, procedures, management, operations, and support services to determine compliance with more than 250 recognized standards of excellence.

“Voluntarily participating in the formal and thorough peer review by the commission ensures that the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco adheres to high standards of professionalism and is among the finest in the state,” said Secretary Charles W. Drago.

The Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation Chairman, Ken Mascara, formally presented the Certificate of Reaccreditation to ABT Director John Powell at the commission meeting in Ponte Vedra.  The Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco was initially accredited on Oct. 11, 2006.

Undergoing the voluntary state accreditation process provides an agency with a “quality assurance review” and encourages intense self-scrutiny, resulting in more efficient and effective daily operations.  Becoming accredited by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation is considered a significant accomplishment and is held in high esteem by the criminal justice community.

The department’s mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly.  The department licenses more than one million businesses and professionals ranging from real estate agents, veterinarians, and accountants to contractors and cosmetologists.  For more information, please visit www.MyFloridaLicense.com.
