NAVARRE BEACH — Navarre Beach rescuers are searching for a missing person who was seen entering the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday morning and never resurfaced.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, a man believed to be around 30 years old entered the water wearing flippers, fire officials said.

Chief Danny Fureigh said Navarre Beach Fire Rescue is patrolling the Gulf of Mexico every hour in search of the man.

He was seen entering the water about a quarter mile east of the Navarre Pier, Fureigh said.

Fureigh also said there was video footage of the man entering the Gulf provided to the fire department.
