The weather forecast for the July Fourth holiday isn't ideal - up to a 60 percent chance of rain - but it could be worse. There could be a tropical storm hovering at our doorstep.

But that isn't like to happen, according to the National Hurricane Center.

All the rain and gloom currently in our area is coming from a low pressure area and associated trough, the Hurricane Center said in a 1 p.m. statement.

They don't expect it to intensify into a named storm because of its close location to land.

The system is moving westward toward southeastern Louisiana.

There's a 10 percent chance of the low becoming a tropical cyclone.
