PACE — Children of Milton had a fun and educational experience at Benny Russell Park Saturday thanks to the Azalea Garden Club of Pace’s Kids Day in the Park. The event took place in conjunction with the National Garden Week.
Kids Day in the Park was an Azalea Garden Club educational program covering birds, bugs, bees, and butterflies. Participating children received a hands-on activity to take home that was associated with each topic. Each station was headed by an expert on the subject including members from the Santa Rosa Bee Keepers Association, and University of Florida.
Sandra Sherman, district director for district 1 of the Azalea Garden Club, organized and planned the event.
“We want to show the children that you can garden and should and show how important it is to take care of the environment.” Sherman said.
She said how much she enjoys seeing the children participate and get involved and how happy she was at the result of the event.
“'Fantastic' is the only word I can use,” Sherman said. “It is absolutely fantastic.”
