PJ's Coffee has come up with a new drink that just hit its stores this week.

This new beverage is called "Vanilla Bowtie Affogato," and it comes in all sizes -- small, medium, large and extra-large.

The prices for the drink are, $4.55, $5.30, $5.85 and $9.35, respectively.

Nakisha Theriot, manager of the PJ's at 1311 St Charles St., Houma, said "the recipe features (their) traditional hot espresso serving as the base of the beverage with a thick layer of frozen vanilla creme, which creates a drink that is balanced in strength and sweetness."

This is the first year the coffee shop will be selling the beverage. As of now, even though the official release date is not here yet, Theriot said customers are already asking for it.

The affogato is similar in texture to a root bear float, but there is no comparison in the taste.

"It's the best of both worlds, ice cream and coffee together," Theriot said.

The drink has a strong coffee taste when first sipped, but as the frozen vanilla creme starts to melt, the taste becomes sweeter and sweeter.

Customers can  come in and personalize their drink, substituting the frozen vanilla cream with either almond, soy, coconut and skim milk.

"We can definitely tweak the recipe to satisfy the milk preference of the customer," Theriot said.
